As part of Pearly Wong Corporate Social Responsibility initiative for 2016, our team embarked on a journey to visit two orphanages home in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in an effort to teach the children recycling program using Pearly Wong textile waste; turning the waste into something new that is usable for the children.
The program scope entails reusing, upcycling and recycling the textile waste through arts and crafts project. All the scraps of fabric that are no longer usable for production are collected for this project instead of disposing them in to the land waste. This is an effort to eliminate textile waste that goes in the land fills every year – Each year, 21 billion pounds of textile waste goes into landfills, occupying more than 5% of all landfill space.
