New Zealand – First show for Pearly Wong Spring Summer 2017 collection “Catch Me If You Can” kicked off at Auckland, New Zealand fashion week on the 28th of August.
Filled with dominant lines and structures, Pearly Wong’s overall aesthetic of the collection is coherent to the label’s principal style of incorporating geometric shapes in multifunctional designs. Evocative prints of aggravated waves and poignant, still waters appear throughout the collection, reminding us of the treacherous effects of our actions onto the colossal yet vulnerable living world. The colors that paint this collection remain to be the label’s staple shades of white, black and grey with melancholic undertones of steel, saxe and pale blue. The washed-out, subdued cast of colors offsets the structured forms.
